220 Triathlon magazine interview

Posted on 01. Sep, 2010 by Tim in News

I was fortunate enough to be asked to do an interview with the 220 triathlon magazine a few weeks back. It was just after my race Half Ironman in Busselton, Western Australia.

A big thanks to the guys at the Australian 220 Triathlon magazine.

Interview with 220 Triathlon magazine

For my 2010 I am pleased to announce a new personal nutrition sponsor. Some of you may of seen the Science in Sport (SIS) logo before on the TEAM SAXO BANK professional team jersey. Science in Sport are the leaders in sports nutrition from the UK. Science in Sport products are for the first time now available here and I’m reaping the benefits of there fantastic range of products.

After initial talks with Matt Hodges and Michael O Hara of SIS here in Australia, who insisted rather than just signing a deal they really wanted to make sure that I liked the product and that it was suitable for me. After using the products in training I soon put pen to paper. I’m proud to be the first person SIS have sponsored here in Australia. There product range is really simple as they have products for BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER exercise. The SIS ‘GO GELS’ stand out as a product I have really noticed a difference from the rest. The SIS GO GEL was the worlds first ISOTONIC Gel, therefore it doesn’t need any water to wash it down and so much easier to get down!

What’s the secret to training harder, racing faster and recovering quicker?”

Was the question that persistently perturbed me, Tim Lawson an athlete and head honcho here at
Science in Sport. This question was the starting block that pioneered sports nutrition in professional athletics.

Born out of passion in 1992, We, SiS have now gained the credibility through our brand’s authenticity being recognised as the world leader in sports nutrition. SiS evokes the desire of performance excellence, focussing on the needs of athletes, where a fraction of a second can stand between success and failure and one performance can change the world, each of our products have a core function to energise, hydrate, recover and enhance Sports men & women.

Our open attitude and constant dialogue with the sporting fraternity, ensures insights, which deliver the facts, to allow us our unrivalled results. Accomplishing every Athletes common goal promotes confidence through SiS, we inspire ambition by breaking records, winning Olympic golds, World Championships, Premiership titles. We know no bounds we’ve scaled the heights of Everest, passed from pole to pole, crossed deserts and the Worlds oceans. We’ve been there and done that but still crave more.

When your body is pushed to the limit we’re with you, we speak your body’s language, from training to competition we’re part of the kit that compliments your performance, we’re the crucial part of the sporting ritual.

After enjoying great success overseas, SiS is now available in Australia, with Matt Hodges as the brand‘s official representative.

Matt was quick to realise the benefits of SiS a few years ago when he represented Great Britain in cycling.

He then became heavily involved in the research and development of new SiS products, which eventually led him to work for SiS UK for over 7 years.

Now living permanently in Australia, Matt is the ideal person to promote SiS to the Australian market. In fact, if there‘s a more passionate advocate for SiS, we‘d like to meet them!

First, I just want to welcome everyone to my new and improved www.TimBerkel.com website. Be sure to check it all out, and keep checking back to see race reports, race results, as well as photos that I upload.

Anything to do with my racing, and training, I will do my best to keep you all up to date. In regards to how everything is going right now, my training is going well, and I am off to race the Gold Coast Half Ironman this weekend. Also, I had a race up in Port Douglas the weekend before last, which I won. I will try to write up a race report covering that race, as well as my results up on the Gold Coast this weekend, when I get back next Monday.

But everything else seems to be on track in my preparation for Western Australia Ironman in December. So come back and check out the site next week, and I’ll have some new updates for you.  Thanks for visiting.
