Tim Berkel is an exciting young Australian triathlete who has chosen to focus his career on the ultimate endurance event; Ironman.  This document outlines an opportunity for your organization to join Tim on his journey to achieve the pinnacle of his sport; success at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

Comprising a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and 42.2km run, Ironman presents one of the world’s most physically and mentally demanding sporting challenges.  On April 6th this year, Tim competed in his third full Ironman, placing 4th in a competitive professional field at the Panther’s Ironman Australian Triathlon.  This result prompted strong media coverage, not just because Tim was the youngest athlete to finish in the top 10, but also because the event was held in his home town of Port Macquarie, NSW.  Tim placed seventh last year at this race, but Tim racing has really improved over the past twelve months.  He clocked the second fastest run of the day, and only Tim and the Winner (New Caledonia’s Patrick Vernay) went under 3-hours on the Marathon.

With his natural talent, engaging personality and absolute commitment to the hard work ahead, there is every reason to believe that Tim can achieve his goals of winning an Ironman event – and, ultimately, standing on the podium at Hawaii.

While triathlon racing is very much an individual sport, it also requires a great support network.  Tim already has excellent support through his family, coach Grant Giles and training partners, however he also recognizes the importance of forming strong partnerships with companies such as Scody and Cannondale in order to follow his dreams and achieve his racing goals, both within Australia and internationally.
